Vlog #2: The Realm of Social Media

Image
Surfing the net and connecting with other people online is not always a world full of butterflies and rainbows. Sometimes, it can get pretty rough. Well, that's the reality of Social Media for you.  Just like a coin, Social Media has two sides! Embark on a journey with me and watch this video to learn more about navigating the realm of Social Media.  At the end of the vlog, I enumerated my personal commitment statements regarding the responsible use of social media. These statements are the following: 1) To not judge people based on assumptions presented online 2) To only use social media in a meaningful way 3) To never post misleading or false information (especially with no credible supporting sources) ___________________________________________________________________________ How about you? What are your personal commitment statements?

Plan Your Look with FashPlan

Image
Never the “techy” type to make this possible, but wouldn’t it be nice to have an app on your phone that will aid you in planning your whole look for the day? I’m talking about hair, makeup, and outfit, besties! If you’ve watched the movie Clueless, remember the scene where Cher chose her outfit through her computer? Definitely every Y2K baby's dream! Well, for this blog, let’s pretend I miraculously became a software developer overnight, and this is me introducing you to the app I made: FashPlan! Planning outfits for me to wear the next day is already a routine that I'm used to, but sometimes when my schedule is jam-packed, I trust my last-minute fashion instinct. However, my instinct (especially when my mind is overflowing with things) can get a little foggy and inaccurate sometimes, resulting in an obviously rushed outfit of the day. I don't know about you, but for me, wearing clothes I'm not confident with ruins my entire day.  Hence I decided to come up with the ap...

It Girl in IT

Image
I knew from the moment I started exploring Facebook in 1 st grade that social media would be something I’d take an interest in. I’ve mentioned in my first blog how I spent my leisure time playing Pet Society, Coco Girl, and Farmville.  Photo from: https://www.facebook.com/cocogirl/ Other than that, I discovered the beauty of creating and owning a Facebook page. However, I did not run the page alone, in fact, I was only an admin and it belonged to my friend. For a brief moment in my childhood life, it was a realm where I could splash and pour out my creativity. The picture below is what creativity meant to me in the year 2013. Once again, it showcased the epitome of my humble beginnings.  Years after this “phase”, I found myself opening a small online business. I found amusement in creating pubs and content, managing my social media accounts, planning strategies to entice customers, and observing the preferences of online consumers. Hence, I could say that if I were t...

My First Vlog!

As someone who copes mainly through retail therapy, thrifting is an inexpensive way to shop for new clothes. Here's a quick try-on haul of everything I got recently. The most amazing part about this vlog is that each piece of clothing costs less than Php 200!  Tiktok: @muelleee  Instagram: @samsaluta  Music: Retro by Wayne jones  Music provided by chillpeach: https://youtu.be/zT50dvlYUBQ

My Productivity Weapons Against Online Class

Image
Put a finger down if you've experienced eating while attending your online class.  Photo from: https://codinginmathclass.wordpress.com/2014/11/19/feminist-barbie-computer-engineer/ Did you put your finger down? If yes, then you're not alone because I did too!  Some days, remote learning can be pretty chill because it allows you to learn at your own pace and even do things comfortably while sitting on the gaming chair you asked for on your birthday. But on other days, it may seem like you have already lived 9 lives, survived the zombie apocalypse, fought during the Great Ninja War, and yet you still feel like you have milestones ahead.  But hey, no need to sweat! Here are the top 3 useful apps that helped me survive online classes.    1. Notion  Photo from: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Notion_app_logo.png      You know what they say "you can't go into battle without a plan". Physical planners are good but being the inconsi...

Poison on My Phone

Image
When I was around three years old, I remember telling my mom I couldn’t wait to get older so that I can afford to buy myself a flip phone.  But at the present, my dream phone is none other than the iPhone 13 in the color pink (but still subject to change if iPhone 14 releases a pink version). Photos from: https://pin.it/108BRAa and https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-13/6.1-inch-display-128gb-pink-unlocked Putting the photos side by side, I can’t help but be amazed at how far technology progressed in the past decade.  However, other than awe, another thing I realized is s ince we stepped into the 2000s, computers, smartphones, and other gadgets popped up every now and then. When I go to the mall or browse on social media, I can only see people using the latest released versions. So where do all the outdated gadgets go? They either end up in landfills, thrift stores, or even scrap yards, but the common denominator of these is that they become E-waste. Now t...

The Awakening of a Girl Boss

Going back to the time when Shopee and Lazada did not even exist yet, there was Divisoria. And from there, I got these. Photos from: https://amzn.eu/d/aybH0q5 and https://pin.it/3oFZAqO Definitely a picture you can hear, right?  I never really enjoyed playing with these, because the sound used was annoyingly the same thing over and over again. So unfortunately for these toys, I ended up removing their batteries because I enjoyed acting like a grown-up; punching buttons, answering calls, and typing "important things". One day, my dad brought home a mysterious flat box. He called me and my sister to come near and help him with the unboxing. When he opened it, I was shocked to see the real deal; a working laptop! Trying to hide the surprise and amazement from my tone, I asked him why it was not pink. He laughed at my remark and explained that adults tend to outgrow their love for the color pink as they grow older, hence the majority of the gadgets made were available only in bas...
