The Awakening of a Girl Boss

Going back to the time when Shopee and Lazada did not even exist yet, there was Divisoria. And from there, I got these.

Definitely a picture you can hear, right?

I never really enjoyed playing with these, because the sound used was annoyingly the same thing over and over again. So unfortunately for these toys, I ended up removing their batteries because I enjoyed acting like a grown-up; punching buttons, answering calls, and typing "important things".

One day, my dad brought home a mysterious flat box. He called me and my sister to come near and help him with the unboxing. When he opened it, I was shocked to see the real deal; a working laptop! Trying to hide the surprise and amazement from my tone, I asked him why it was not pink. He laughed at my remark and explained that adults tend to outgrow their love for the color pink as they grow older, hence the majority of the gadgets made were available only in basic colors. "I will never outgrow pink", I said out loud, which earned another chuckle from him.

Later on, he taught us the basics. I don't recall the step-by-step process he discussed but by the end of the day, I remember discovering four amazing sites that made my childhood; Facebook, Y8.com, PiZap, and Youtube.

Back then, talking to my friends felt like this:

But just a few days of owning a Facebook account, it went to this:

From then on, I would always look forward to spending my weekend collecting coins for my avatar in Pet Society and playing dress-up or makeover games on Y8.com. Youtube also offered a safe haven for me to watch my LPS skits.

Or sometimes, I'd even make fan edits of Taylor Swift.

Looking back, these four sites, AKA my "humble beginnings", contributed to a big part of the present me. Facebook enhanced my communication skills, Y8.com gave birth to my passion for fashion and makeup, PiZap made me realize my love for editing, and Youtube influenced me to pursue content-creating.

Who would've thought that the girl boss that I am today, was already awakened a few years back?
